Our Heritage and Culture

Mitchell Turf has evolved from a passionate local supplier to a premier name in turf and landscaping across Scotland. We are a family run independent business that has been supplying landscapers for over 30 years. We started from humble beginnings, handballing turf from the back of a compact tractor, gradually progressing to running state of the art Trebro TSR Harvesters. We’ve come a long way!

Distributing over 1,000,000m² of turf annually to our customers. Harvesting all year round from our 400-acre Dunbar farm and 300-acre Linwood farm. This impressive volume reflects our capacity to handle large-scale demands while maintaining the utmost quality and service.

Exciting Expansion Through Merger

In early 2023, Mitchell Turf proudly announced a significant milestone in our journey – the merger with Scotlawn, another esteemed family-run turf farm. This strategic consolidation under the Mitchell Turf brand signified our commitment to broadening our product range and regional coverage, offering an enhanced service experience to our valued customers. This led to the opening of a new depot in Barrhead, to help cover the West of Scotland, and a second turf farm to grow turf in Linwood, near Glasgow.

Local Touch, National Reach

With depots strategically located in Cumbernauld (Central Scotland), Dunbar (East of Scotland), and Barrhead (West of Scotland), we are able to offer collections and deliveries direct from our new depots or turf fields. Our delivery fleet includes:

6 x 26-tonne lorries with truck mounted forklift for precision placement of pallets & bags.
1 x 26-tonne lorry with HIAB loader crane for those hard to reach spots.
1 x 18-tonne lorry with HIAB loader crane for tighter streets.
1 x 20-tonne tipper lorry for bulk loose loads.
1 x 10-tonne tipper lorry for smaller loose loads in tighter streets.
2 x dropside flatbed vans with rear crane for access restricted deliveries.
